Why do some Asian girls not want to date Asian guys?

In a previous Date An Asian post, we mentioned that Asian-American girls often want to break from the tradition of only dating within their own culture.

Their parents may not only want them to exclusively date Asians, but also prefer that, if they are Chinese, their daughter goes out with a Chinese boy, and that a Korean girl should only be with a Korean guy, etc.

However, as more and more young Asian women attend college and university, enter the workforce and professions, as they mingle with the melting pot of men that is America, they often decide to break with tradition and instead date outside their own culture.

The video with this post includes a number of edited interviews with women at the University of California at Berkeley who express the desire to be with non-Asian men.

WARNING: The views expressed are NOT those of Date An Asian. The remarks obviously refer to stereotypes and prejudices, but they are important to know about because they reveal information that could affect your dating – whether you are Asian or not.

For instance, the video clearly shows that Asian girls ARE interested in dating guys from other cultures, so non-Asian guys needn’t be shy to approach them.

Coming up at DateAnAsian.net: Video proof of the type of girls who WANT to date Asian guys.

Asian women online: Do they prefer non-Asian men?

At DateAnAsian.com our goal is to break down many of the myths and stereotypes that surround dating different cultures and nationalities. This site is not simply for Asians, but is meant to help everyone mingle with singles from all countries.

Many Asian men say they find it difficult to find Asian women online who are interested in them.

The 2 major reasons cited are:

Women living in Asia are looking for men from non-Asian countries who can help them emigrate to the West.

Women who grew up in Asia and now live in the West want to enjoy their newfound freedom. They may have come from places where they can go days without speaking to a foreigner, but now America offers them a melting pot of all types of men they would like to have a chance to meet.

Date An Asian is obviously the right place for non-Asian men to learn about dating Asian women.

What tips do we have for Asian men?

There are more women than men signed up with online dating sites

Be patient. The odds are in your favor.

Try meeting non-Asian women. They’ll find you as interesting and exotic as you do them.

But, if you’re an Asian guy still stuck on meeting an Asian girl here are a few rules of engagement to remember…

Start by finding a bond to help you break the ice. Is she from your hometown or does she now live in the same city as you do? Are you following similar studies or working at similar jobs? Do you like the same kinds of sports or hobbies?

If her profile highlights relationship links like these before you even contact her, there’s much more chance she will want to chat with you and then remain in touch.

These are the type of connections that can build trust and lead to friendship and romance.

Coming up: videos of women revealing their feelings about dating Asian guys. Obviously, these opinions do NOT reflect the thoughts of Date An Asian. But they are a starting point for us to understand the stereotypes we are all up against.

The Pros and Cons of Online Dating: A Cautionary Tale

Online dating is a fabulous and endlessly fun way to meet people from the comfort of your own computer.

Thanks to the internet, it’s now said 1 in 5 relationships begin online. So you don’t want to miss out on that 20% chance of finding a new friend or soul mate.

Still we would be remiss not to mention that this method of meeting must be used with care.

Even just a decade ago, single people met at parties and other social gatherings and chose potential partners based almost completely on outward appearances.

Sure it was a superficial way to select someone to date, but at least there was safety in numbers.

Almost everyone in attendance would be known by the majority of people there, so you could easily find out more about someone you had your eye on and have your first interaction with them in the presence of your friends.

Nowadays, even though there are millions of people on the web, online dating is basically a one-on-one activity. So that safety in numbers is gone.

The new world of dating online opens up many new opportunities, but also calls for care and caution.

Every game has its rules and unless you know them you can’t become a good player and eventually a winner.

Everything that applies to the internet, applies to online dating as well. The internet allows for unlimited possibilities in communication, and it is this feature that has caused the incredible popularity of online dating, but also leads to the major problems of this method of meeting.

The pros include: People can start from scratch and get to know everything about each other before an actual encounter takes place. Tastes and preferences, likes and dislikes, interests and obsessions can be discussed so that, when you actually do meet the two of you are already quite well acquainted.

The cons include: Well, cons. Con men are everywhere on the invisible world of the internet. The possibility for unlimited communication leaves a lot of space for guile as well. The person misusing online dating may range from a practical joker to someone with evil intent in search of victims. A bit of homework is definitely called for before you actually set out to meet someone you only know online.

We want you to thoroughly enjoy your online dating experiences. Still, from time to time, we will be there with some safety tips for you.

For example, if you are online dating then you obviously know your way around the internet. If you find yourself interested in someone, use the web to learn more about them. Do a search on their name, their profile on Facebook or LinkedIn, information about their school records or work history. If anything doesn’t match what they are telling you…?  Well, how far will a relationship go that starts with lies?

Planning to meet? Treat the encounter like a blind date. You’ll want to start with something short and safe for both of you. Meet for coffee in a popular restaurant. Don’t be shy to have a friend with you or sitting nearby.

Then relax.

Your online acquaintance may well turn out to be the date of your dreams!

Compliments are free – or – How to end an online relationship at Date An Asian.

In the previous post, we explained how everyone on this site wants, and benefits from, multiple contacts with other online dating singles.

You learn what it’s like having online relationships, and you’ll learn more about yourself, your likes and dislikes.

Perhaps offline you would prefer to focus on a single romantic interest, but online you want to take the opportunity to evaluate many kinds of potential friends and soul mates.

You may say you are shy when it comes to meeting people and, even worse, you can’t imagine how you could possibly reject so many people.

You’re right, but once again things are different online.

People you are communicating with at Date An Asian are also looking to cut back their lists of contacts.

It’s easy for them to find more. So just give them the nod and they are out the door…

We’d like to make it better for both of you.

When ending an online relationship, do it with a compliment.

You never know if this person has a cousin, classmate or colleague you would love to meet, so be good.

No doubt you’ll meet people who think you aren’t right for their criteria.

You’ll want to be let down easy, too.

You see, for you and anyone at Date An Asian, it’s best for both of you to meet as many people as possible, but then to quickly move on if any person isn’t just right.

Before you give someone the online brush-off, look at their photo and profile. Think about the chats you’ve had and what you now know about this person.

Then don’t be cold, be complimentary.

Say something like: “I was actually looking for someone with a technical background like me, so maybe we aren’t a perfect match.”

“You know, you look so strong in your photo, you’ll have no trouble meeting girls online. I’m sure you’ll do well in that competition you mentioned, too.”

Here’s an example of a guy letting a girl slip from his active contacts: “I’d like to find someone who lives closer to me. So I’m trying to focus on that.”

“To tell you the truth, maybe I shouldn’t have contacted you, but you’re just so attractive. I’m sure you’ll be a big success on this site.”

You see, no one gets hurt, everyone gets a boost of confidence as they get to move on to meet more people.

Compliments are free. So give them generously.

Date as many people as you want!

If you are dating someone at work, at your college, in your neighborhood, you can’t very well date 2 or 3 other people at the same time.

In the real world, a dating relationship has to run its course, allowing your social skills and experience to only grow one person at a time.

Dating online turns these ideas upside down.

Register here at DateAnAsian.net, glance through your start-up guide, then rev up your dating engines and get ready to go.

First, do a quick search for the kind of friend you’re looking for, e.g.: Chinese living in the U.S.A., or Japanese living in Japan, or Malaysian living in Australia, etc.

Now you can immediately scan through the hundreds or thousands of photos and profiles of your fellow dating singles who match your initial requirements.

Time for the fun to begin. Start picking out the people you find interesting and attractive. Would you date them offline?

Don’t feel limited by distance or appearance or age. And don’t be shy. Feel free to start up communications with at least 6 to 12 people – depending on how much time you can devote to dating.

Can you imagine dating 10 women at work?

That’s how online dating is different. It’s more fun and everyone learns faster the more contacts they make.

In just one weekend of interviewing online friends, you may be able to narrow down 12 to 2… or 10 to 6 potential friends and 1 possible romantic interest.

So everyone benefits by the number of people you contact at Date An Asian.

Things don’t work out with your new relationships for whatever reason? No problem.

Get right back on DateAnAsian.net and pick out 10 more interesting profiles.

Each time you’ll learn about how to succeed at online dating… and you’ll get better at it!

Why try online dating at Date An Asian?

If you wish to expand your circle of friends, or you are looking for a life partner, you should definitely experience DateAnAsian.net.

This site is filled with computer-friendly people who are actively searching for someone just like you.

Even if you are comfortable with the limited number of people you may meet at work, at school, at parties, or during leisure activities, you should still consider how easy it will be to strike up an online relationship from the comfort of your home on DateAnAsian.net.

In the offline world, you can’t be sure whom to approach – they may be in a relationship, gay or straight, their interests may be opposite to yours – there are so many reasons you may wind up feeling rejected.

At DateAnAsian.net, all that information is right up front. Everyone on the site is committed to meeting other singles with similar interests.

Best of all, internet dating fits your schedule. These days we are all busy. But even if you are a single parent with two jobs, you can take care of work and the kids and still find time to meet people online.

Compare Date An Asian to two of the traditional ways of meeting people: going on a string of dates with people you meet or are set up with and meeting people in bars.

Both these methods are hugely expensive for the proper wardrobe, the drinks and dining, your time (which will seem so much longer if your date is boring) and, for a variety of health reasons, the bar scene may have seen its day.

With DateAnAsian.net, you can pick and choose the exact people with whom you would like to interact and then further narrow the field to your favorites.

Yes, close encounters will be in your future but, before ever setting foot away from your home computer, why not make your social life simpler, more affordable and enjoyable with DateAnAsian.net.
